Welcome to MTA Dining

Welcome to MTA where good food and great people meet.

Our bright dining hall is a hub of activity and offers endless variety while our two retail locations provide exactly what you need, where you need it on campus.

Dining on Campus

Students living in residence can choose their meal options from twelve marché style stations in Jennings Dining Hall. Stations include the salad bar, deli with Panini grill, soup, pizza, pasta, Mongolian grill, vegetarian food, hot entrees, dessert bar, gourmet coffee bar, breakfast and charbroil grill. Parents, visitors, staff and students living near campus are welcome to join us and pay at the door to enjoy these options. Students can also sample food from our table side menu which brings food right to your table!

Local Food

At Mount Allison we purchase over 40% of our food from farmers, fishers and producers in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Local food items are featured on the daily menu boards and at the popular local food nights where students, faculty and staff are welcome to dine and talk to those who produce their food. Our definition of local food is a five hour circle around Sackville known to us as the Maritime Diet.

MTA Farm

Mount Allison has its very own farm just four blocks from campus. Students work to grow, weed and harvest the crops which are sold to Jennings Hall, to patrons of the Sackville Farmers Market and as weekly boxes to students, faculty and staff.

Vegetarian and Vegan Dining

We have one station that has never been touched by meat which features vegetarian and vegan menu options. Almost all other stations in the dining hall feature menu options making it easy to ensure a complete and healthy diet. This station also features a rotation of international dishes.

Special Dietary Requirements

Students with allergies or medical conditions which require special consideration for dietary requirements have access to a dietitian and to our executive chef to go over the menus and to add additional menu options to ensure a healthy diet. Drop into the office at Jennings Hall or email dining@mta.ca to make an appointment for a consultation.

Eating Made Easy

At Mount Allison we make every effort to reduce our carbon footprint. Meet Dirt and Ernie the newest members of the Dining Services family. They turn all of our pre and post-consumer food waste into valuable compost which was tilled into soil at our farm to grow vegetables. Dirt and Ernie will be fed cardboard from our new shredder to reduce our waste stream even more. We went tray less in 2007. Dishes are cleaned at the scraping station. Both of these initiatives have reduced our food waste by 44%! Savings are now used to meet our target of 40% locally purchased food from NS, PEI and NB.
